I have a desktop computer running Windows 7 32-Bit and my processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz. The problem is that I feel my system runs slower than expected. Since its a Dual core, it should run two cores at the speed of 3.00 GHz, but whenI open CPUID CPU-Z, at the bottom it shows the following:Core Speed: 1999.51 MHzMultiplier: x 6.0Bus Speed: 332.9 MHzRated FSB: 1331.7 MHzI did some research on intel's site and got to know that the default multiplier for E8400 is x 9.0 and core speed to be 3000.00 MHzWhy is my processor running at 2.00 GHz instead of 3? I ain't overclocking or anything, and even in the BIOS menu I checked that the clock speed is set to 9.0 exact.
The boot up screen also reads my processor as a 3.00 Ghz (333x9).Please help!My computer specs:Motherboard: GA-G41M ES2LManufacturer: Gigabyte TechnologiesProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00 GHzMemory: 3.00 GB (Micron Technology 1x2 GB and 1x1GB DDR2 PC2-5300)Hard Disk: 500 GB WDC WD5000AAKS-08V0A0 ATABIOS: Award Software International, Inc. Assuming you installed the drivers from Gigabyte site, and any other hardware from their sites, and not windows update, and didnt fiddle with bios settings, then the cpu, and memory useage, modifies itself as per the load requirement that is place on thesystem. In other words the system doesnt run at full speed until its requiredI installed the drivers for intel 4 series express chipset from the Gigabyte CD when I bought the computer. And yes I don't use Windows Update. Well but what if I want to run it at full speed?
What do I do?- Ebby:).
